Terms and Conditions of Use

Welcome to Step Friend ("the App"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you accept these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of the Terms
By using Step Friend you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years old.
- You have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.
- If you act on behalf of another person, you are authorized to do so.
If you are under 18, you declare that a parent/guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms with you.
2. Description of the Service
Step Friend is a gamified fitness application in which the user:
- Imports steps and workouts from Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
- Receives virtual rewards (coins, health, level) based on their activity.
- Cares for a virtual axolotl that can be customized with outfits and skins.
- Competes against their own history (streaks, personal records).
The App is not a medical device nor a substitute for professional medical advice (see Section 9).
3. User Account
3.1 Usage modes
You can use Step Friend in two modes:
- Guest mode: without creating an account. Your progress lives 100% on your device and is lost if you reinstall the App.
- Registered mode: with email + password. Your progress is backed up on our server and you can recover it on any device.
3.2 Registered user responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide truthful information when registering.
- Keep your password secret.
- Notify us immediately if you detect unauthorized use of your account.
- Be solely responsible for all activity carried out from your account.
We are not responsible for losses arising from failure to meet these obligations.
4. Pro Subscription
4.1 What Pro includes
The Pro subscription unlocks:
- Unlimited workout imports (the free version allows one every 3 days).
- Access to all skins, outfits and items in the premium catalog.
- Other benefits announced at the time of purchase.
4.2 Pricing and plans
- Monthly: $39 MXN
- Yearly: $299 MXN (roughly equivalent to about $25 MXN/month)
Prices may vary by country due to automatic App Store / Google Play adjustment.
4.3 Free trial
We offer a 7-day free trial the first time you subscribe. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.
4.4 Automatic renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before expiration. The charge is made to your payment method registered with the App Store or Google Play.
4.5 How to cancel
To cancel your subscription:
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Step Friend → Cancel.
- Android: Play Store → Menu → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Step Friend → Cancel.
Important: cancelling inside the App is not possible — cancellation is managed directly in the store where you purchased.
If you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the paid period, and then move to the free version.
4.6 Refunds
Refunds are managed by Apple and Google under their own policies. We do not process refunds directly.

5. Permitted use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
- Attempt to hack, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the App.
- Create multiple accounts to take advantage of promotions (including free-trial abuse).
- Use bots or automation to inflate your steps or statistics.
- Impersonate another person.
- Sell, transfer or assign your account to a third party.
Breaking any of these rules may result in the suspension or deletion of your account without a refund.
6. Virtual content and inventory
The coins, skins, outfits and items you obtain inside the App are virtual goods with no real monetary value. They cannot:
- Be converted into real money.
- Be transferred between accounts.
- Be claimed as property outside the App.
If your account is deleted (by you or by us, in case of a breach), you lose access to your virtual inventory without the right to compensation.
7. Health data
For the game to work, you need to grant the App permission to read data from Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect.
- The App only reads data. It never writes to HealthKit / Health Connect.
- You can revoke permission at any time from your device settings.
- If you revoke permission, the App will not be able to calculate your rewards correctly.

8. Intellectual property
All Step Friend content — design, code, graphics, axolotl illustrations, text, sounds and brand — is the property of Alejandro Sánchez or its licensors, and is protected by intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable and revocable license to use the App in accordance with these Terms. You acquire no ownership over the content.
You may not:
- Copy, modify or distribute the App's content.
- Use Step Friend's graphics or brand in other products or services without written authorization.
9. Medical disclaimer
Step Friend is NOT a medical device nor a diagnostic tool.
The App calculates rewards based on your steps and workouts, but it must not be considered medical, nutritional or professional training advice.
Before starting any physical activity program, consult a health professional, especially if you:
- Have a pre-existing medical condition.
- Are pregnant.
- Are 65 or older.
- Have been physically inactive for a long time.
Using the App is your decision and at your own risk. We are not responsible for injuries, health problems or consequences arising from the use of Step Friend.
10. Service availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the App available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may:
- Perform scheduled maintenance.
- Update the App with new features or fixes.
- Temporarily suspend the service for technical or security reasons.
We are not responsible for interruptions caused by third parties (Apple, Google, Railway, etc.) or by force majeure.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Step Friend and Alejandro Sánchez will not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from the use of the App.
- Loss of data, profits or reputation.
- Damages exceeding the amount you have paid to Step Friend in the last 12 months (or $500 MXN, whichever is greater).
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability. In those cases, the limitations apply to the extent permitted by local law.
12. Termination
12.1 By you
You can stop using the App at any time. If you have a registered account, you can request its deletion by emailing [email protected].
12.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if:
- You violate these Terms.
- Your use puts other users or the service at risk.
- A competent legal authority requires it.
In case of termination for breach, no subscription refund applies.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. We will notify significant changes within the App or by email. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
The "Last updated" date in the header reflects the version in force.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved in the competent courts of Mexico City, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction that might apply.
15. General provisions
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Step Friend regarding the use of the App.
- Severability: if any clause is declared invalid, the remaining ones stay in force.
- No waiver: our failure to enforce a right does not constitute a waiver of it.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in case of a sale or merger of the business.
